Who Throws It
Usually, the maid of honor and bridesmaids or other close friends of the bride will officially host the shower. Though etiquette dictates that the bride's mother or immediate family members should not throw her a shower, many now do chip in or host the entire affair.

The Invitations
Invitations can be of the pre-printed, store-bought variety. Unlike with the wedding invitation, it is proper to include registry information with the shower invitation. If the shower is a surprise for the bride, mention this on the invitation. Also mention any special themes. RSVPs are generally handled by telephone.
When To Have It
The only rule for a shower is that it must occur after the couple is engaged and before they are married. The ideal time is usually a month or two before the wedding.
Where to Go
Where you have the shower depends on the type of shower you’re having. A backyard barbecue, a pool party or a picnic creates a fun, casual setting, and works great for a co-ed party. Or for a more formal, just-the-girls celebration, book a private room for luncheon at the bride’s favorite fancy restaurant. Think about the activities planned for the shower and pick your spot accordingly.
